ABOUT DINO

“People often ask me how I develop my style, and my answer is always the same, for as long as I can remember I have always been attracted to color.

This comes from my time growing up in Italy, from the rich and contrasting color of food to the architecture and landscapes that sorrounds me and from these elements I started my journey to become a painter. It is through a combination of light’s colors and textures of the unique environment of Ibiza and it’s nature, that changes in its own unique way from summer to winter, that i find new inspiration.

Ibiza has a magic that anyone who has ever visited or stayed on the island for a long period of time has discovered and it is this magic that allows me to tap into the internal doors that we keep locked away in our subconscious. These doors are the real key to producing an abstractive work and from the abstraction you see hidden messages that are planted deep in each individual piece which then allows me to minipolarize, transform and metamorphose the paintings on the canvas.

It has similar comparisons to being a conductor of an orchestra, all musicians are skilled in their instrument, all brilliant in their own individual way, but when well combined they give you something more astonishing than a single violin playing in the wind. Each piece of my art tells a story.”

Dino Cortiana was born in 1972 in Milan to a family of gallery owners. From an early age he grew up immersed in modern art and painters of the caliber of De Chirico, De Pisis, A. Boetti, Guttuso and many other famous painters curated by his father Bruno.

He was immediately particularly fascinated by this environment which in those years was experiencing a period of great ferment and growth. His residences were located between Milan and Bergamo, on the banks of the Adda river, where Dino began to paint and discover this attraction towards nature, a predominant theme in his works. Already at the age of 14 he participated and won his first painting competition, followed by others but always at an amateur level.

It will only be after 1997 at the age of 25 that Dino will begin to continuously produce a series of works, the first personal exhibitions date back to 2001 at the Adda Art Gallery in Bergamo, 2002 at the Russo Gallery of Modern Art in Milan and the Castello Sforzesco exhibition space in Milan, 2003 Nour Space Milan.

Between 2004 and 2008 he opened his first atelier with large spaces that allowed him to produce and exhibit independently. Since that period there have been 22 personal exhibitions and over 200 works, mostly ending up in private collections. Between 2009 and 2018 Dino travels a lot, France, Spain, South America, continuously searching for new ideas, varying, experimenting and perfecting the action painting technique, to offer to the public a variety of paintings each one with a personal touch. of uniqueness and originality.

In 2018 Dino, after a dark period lacking the necessary expressive enthusiasm, moved permanently to Ibiza, an island of great inspiration and personal rebirth for him.

Right now you can see his works all year round on permanent display in his atelier in Playa d’En Bossa, Ibiza.
